From exploration to experimentation: the second edition of the Gen-AI Lab

From exploration to experimentation: the second edition of the Gen-AI Lab has officially come to an end.

This edition of the Lab was led by Davide Ferraris, Benedetta Ajello, and Ivana Cassaniti, who guided the students throughout the journey, supporting them in exploring new methods, tools, and workflows to investigate how designers can collaborate with AI while maintaining a critical, human-centered perspective.

Over the course of 6 intensive sessions, the students of the Specializing Master in Service Design by POLI.design – Politecnico di Milano explored how Generative AI is reshaping the design practice, critically reflecting on its impact on creativity, decision-making and service innovation.

The Lab included two field visits at Milan IBM Studios, with the final session dedicated to the presentation of the students’ projects. It was an opportunity to showcase the outcomes of the Lab, discuss the design process, and exchange perspectives with IBM professionals.

Throughout the experience, participants tested new methods, tools and workflows, investigating how designers can collaborate with AI while maintaining a critical, human-centered perspective.
