MSD and WAU! teaming up to shape transformative learning through Service Design

We are excited to announce a new partnership between the XIII edition of the Specializing Master in Service Design at POLI.design – Politecnico di Milano and WAU! Milano – We Are Urban, a volunteer association active in the city of Milan since 2006.

WAU! promotes active citizenship and shared care of public spaces, aiming to improve urban life and strengthen the connection between citizens and their city. Through educational projects, tactical urbanism interventions, and civic engagement initiatives, WAU! has become a recognized partner in urban regeneration and participatory processes.

By integrating WAU!’s expertise and approach into our didactic program, students will explore how service design can create real impact for communities and urban environments. As future service designers, we do not only design services; we help shape cultures, foster civic responsibility, and strengthen a sense of belonging among citizens.

This collaboration invites us to reflect on the value of action: caring for the city becomes not only an act of responsibility but also an opportunity for personal and collective growth.

Andrea Amato, President of WAU! , describes the partnership as:

“WAU!Milano, with two decades of experience, has developed and tested numerous local initiatives aimed at promoting the common good, born out of collaboration with public and private entities. It is exciting for our association to share our approach with international students and experts of the Specializing Master in Service Design at POLI.design within a didactic workshop. Together, we will be able to develop new ideas that will allow us to explore scenarios of transformation and design solutions that will drive social innovation.”

Stay tuned to discover how this collaboration will unfold across this workshop of MSD13!
