Palermo | COLTA – Collettivi a Tavola
In recent days, prof. Beatrice Villari and prof. Stefano Maffei, co-director and director of the Specializing Master in Service Design, took part in COLTA – Collettivi a Tavola, a conference dedicated to sharing and discussing the outcomes of the homonymous PRIN research project, coordinated by the Università di Palermo in collaboration with the Department of Design at Politecnico di Milano and the Università di Scienze Gastronomiche of Pollenzo.
The interdisciplinary event was an opportunity to share the results of an action-research project developed together with Caritas Reggiana, focused on the dynamics of social collective catering. Adopting a service design perspective, the research analysed organizational processes, roles, and competences as well as social interactions and envisioned design-driven scenarios that revolve around the ‘mense diffuse’ case study, interpreting social collective catering as a social innovation hub.
An experience that highlights the role of service design when it engages with real social needs: observing, listening, connecting knowledge and generating innovation with social impact.
