The XIII Edition officially kicked off with Service Design Fundamentals
These days marked the start of the students’ journey in the Specializing Master in Service Design. The opening module, led by Francesca Foglieni and Beatrice Villari, introduced participants to the foundational principles, methods, and tools of Service Design.
This first step of the program combined lectures, open discussions, and practical activities, setting the stage for the learning path ahead. Students engaged with key service design concepts, from understanding what a service is and its core components, to exploring the processes that enable services to function effectively. The module also invited reflection on the shift toward a #ServiceEconomy, service-dominant logic, and different approaches to service innovation.
Participants were guided through the origins and evolution of service design, while becoming familiar with its core principles and with design thinking practices. Emphasis was placed on the multidisciplinary nature of the field, showing how diverse backgrounds and perspectives play a crucial role in enriching the design process and driving innovation.
With this strong foundation in place, students are now ready to continue their journey through the upcoming modules, developing the skills and mindset needed to shape the future of service design.
