Designing for Inclusivity with Antonio Grillo

Today’s module on Inclusive Design, taught by Antonio Grillo, was an inspiring and informative session on the importance of designing for diversity and reducing biases. The lecture provided a theoretical overview of the concept of inclusive design and its business value, as well as practical skills and methodologies to embed in everyday design practice.

The course started with an introduction to ethics and inclusion, followed by an exploration of the business value of inclusive design and how to avoid biases during the design process. Antonio Grillo also provided an in-depth analysis of the Inclusive Design toolkit, which is considered one of the top five best practices for inclusion worldwide.
Students gained a deep understanding of the real meaning of inclusion and how to go beyond stereotypes, as well as the essential skills and tools to become a modern designer.

The methodologies and tools taught will enable students to empathize with diversity throughout the entire design process and keep their focus on human-centricity. Overall, this was an eye-opening and valuable module on inclusive design, which is crucial for designing solutions that cater to a diverse range of users.
