Exploring AI & IoT in the Emerging Technologies Module

The second day of the Emerging Technologies – AI & IoT module, led by Prof. Alessandro Redondi, was dedicated to understanding the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and how it can be leveraged within service design.

Through a mix of theory and practical examples, the students explored key AI concepts such as supervised and unsupervised learning, classification, prediction, and the structure of a basic AI pipeline. Special attention was given to the limits and ethical implications of AI integration in service contexts.

To conclude the module, the class worked in teams to develop AI-supported service concepts, putting into practice their reflections on feasibility, technological potential, and user experience. A hands-on approach that allowed them to turn abstract systems into real design possibilities.
