Students embark on a Service Design Tools Basics journey with Valentina Auricchio & Marta Corubolo

Valentina Auricchio & Marta Corubolo introduce the second module, Service Design Tools Basics. This module will provide a comprehensive analysis of design methods and tools, with a focus on those most commonly used in service design; including key disciplines, methodologies and techniques.

The lessons will be a mix of theory and practice with exercises integrating the two. Exploring participatory approaches and understanding tools that enable the design of intangible elements of services as well. More specifically students will acquire knowledge of tools, such as: storyboards, personas, journey maps, offering maps and desktop walkthroughs. Students will have the chance to apply them in a “reverse engineering” mode, analysing existing services to best grasp these key disciplines for a deeper understanding of the Service Design practice, and to be able to implement and even adapt them to fit their specific needs.

By the end of this module students will have a solid understanding of the role of tools in the design process, developing an ability to select and use these tools according to project requirements and project context.
