The urgency of Sustainable Design, which promotes the Circular Economy, breaks into the Service Design

It’s time to become respectful and engaged service designers; our Specializing Master’s course is committed to this direction. Thus, Sustainable Design & Circular Economy are the topics of this new Pill, thanks to the valuable contribution donated by the practitioner Erwan Mouazan, founder of Circular Economy consultancy Ecovala.

As the world moves towards a more sustainable future, the #circulareconomy has emerged as a critical concept for achieving a circular and regenerative economy. The circular economy emphasizes the efficient use of resources, minimizing waste and pollution, and the use of renewable energy. The principles of the circular economy can (and should) be embedded in Service Design, and applied to services. Integrating circular models into designing services can help businesses, organizations, and public institutions to reduce their environmental impact, improve their #socialresponsibility, and create new business opportunities.

Therefore, this course will integrate moments dedicated to circular economy issues, emphasizing how natural ecosystems work circularly, while ‘human ecosystems’ reason with a linear approach. During this Pill, students will have the chance to analyze #businessmodels, with instances focused on embedding #sustainability and #circularmodels into services that exist nowadays, and take them to a higher level.

The challenge for our students is daunting, how to redesign, and implement even more, business models of brands that are already based on circular economies? We will discover it!
