Introducing Systemic Design with Mieke van der Bijl-Brouwer

Introducing the “Systemic Design” module led by Dr. Mieke van der Bijl-Brouwer, an Associate Professor at TU Delft and co-founder of the Systemic Design Lab. This module will equip our service design students to create positive impacts on individuals and expand their influence on communities and societies. By combining complexity and systems thinking with design theories and practices, systemic design provides a valuable toolkit. Students will engage in experiential learning cycles, exploring complex challenges, understanding systemic perspectives, and applying systemic design principles to interventions.

Dr. Mieke van der Bijl-Brouwer’s expertise and extensive research background make her the ideal instructor for this module, ensuring an enriching learning experience. Through this course, they will develop a comprehensive understanding of complex challenges, systems thinking, and associated methods. They will acquire the skills to explore challenges systemically using various methods and possess the knowledge of systemic design principles for designing products, services, and other solutions in complex contexts.
