Understanding Interaction Design in Service Development
Today marked the beginning of the Interaction Design & UX Prototyping module, led by Payton Meyer. The session introduced the fundamental principles of Interaction Design, exploring how it fits within the broader product development cycle and how it interrelates with UX, UI, and Service Design. Through real-world examples and case studies, students examined how user experience is shaped at every stage of design, from ideation to implementation.
In the second part of the session, students focused on storyboarding user journeys. Using research-driven user interviews, they mapped out current-state experiences, identifying pain points and opportunities for improvement. This exercise helped them develop a structured approach to visualizing interactions and understanding user needs.
The day concluded with a hands-on exercise, where students turned their insights into structured user journey maps, setting the stage for tomorrow’s session on defining key functionalities and designing interaction frameworks.
